This scripture is a daily reminder that we have the fruit of the Spirit. It lives in us and does not depart from us, but we depart from it. Sometimes we need to check ourselves and assess what we are producing towards ourselves and others. Galations 5:22 does that for us; am I being loving, am I joyous, am I practicing self-control in this moment? These questions can stop any unhealthy thinking in it's tracks and redirect you to the fruit that lives in you. We move fast in our days and even faster in our thoughts and more often than not we leave no room to hear from the Spirit of God that lives in us. Your pace is reflective of what's happening in your mind and heart. Psalm 23:1 says "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing" if we lack nothing then why are we rushing? This should encourage us to slow our minds and create a space that is always conscious of the fruit that dwells in us. In doing so, we honor God's gift and permit ourselves to walk boldly in love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
